Kylie Kinley is one of the academic advisors for major, pre-major, and minor students.
After growing up on a farm near Blue Hill, Neb., Kylie majored in journalism at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln while working as a reporter, sports photographer, and janitor for her hometown newspaper, The Blue Hill Leader, which still used the waxing layout process and even some typesetting with slugs until 2007.
She earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in English from UNL in 2011 and a Master’s of Arts in English with focuses in Creative Writing and Children’s Literature from K-State in 2013. After graduation, she taught English composition, literature, and creative writing classes in K-State’s English department and worked for K-State First as a learning assistant coordinator. She left K-State to serve as the Nebraska State Historical Society’s assistant editor of publications and social media director and returned to K-State to continue teaching and working with students.
Her articles have appeared in The Nebraska Farmer, Nebraska History, NEBRASKAland, Nebraska Cattlemen, and the Nebraska History blog. She was the ghostwriter of the book Wings Over Nebraska and a co-author of The K-State First Guide to Student Success.
Kylie enjoys reading, writing, running, cooking, working outside, and rural shenanigans.
