Spencer O'Daniel is the assistant director of the Collegian Media Group, serves as the liaison for Kansas Scholastic Press Association and hosts the Flint Hills Publication Workshop for high school journalists in July. He also teaches journalism with an emphasis in reporting, magazine production, feature writing and design.

O'Daniel earned his B.A in Secondary Education from Wichita State in May 2012. He obtained his master's degree from Wichita State in Mass Communication in the fall of 2016. He plans on pursuing his doctoral degree in Adult Learning and Leadership this spring at K-State.

O'Daniel spent his first five years teaching high school journalism at Wichita West High School, where he was awarded the Sunflower Award for best adviser under 5 years teaching in spring of 2016. That May, O'Daniel guided his Wichita West journalism team to 6A sweepstakes championship at the KSPA contest in May. 

Besides teaching, O'Daniel has produced journalism content for the Ark Valley News, Wichita Eagle, 313 Magazine and other local publications. He hopes to direct and oversee his own journalism school after he completes his doctoral degree.
