Tom Milbourn to speak at JMC honors banquet
The A.Q. Miller School of Journalism and Mass Communications will have its annual honors banquet at 5:30 p.m. Friday, April 24, in the ballroom of the K-State Student Union. Dinner will be followed by a program and recognition of scholarship recipients. The speaker will be Tom Milbourn.
Milbourn has been a news anchor for FOX 11 News at WLUK-TV, Green Bay, Wisconsin, since 1994. He anchors FOX 11 News at Five and FOX 11 News at Nine. His career in news gathering spans five decades and he has received numerous state and regional awards for his reporting. He has interviewed U.S. presidents, has covered national political conventions and Super Bowls, and has flown with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. He is also the press box announcer for the Green Bay Packers and is a part-time professor of communications at St. Norbert College, De Pere. He began his broadcast career at age 15 at KMAN, Manhattan, Kansas. He is a 1968 business administration graduate of Kansas State University. One of his fondest class memories is the reporting class he took from Ralph Lashbrook, who at the time was also head of what was then the Department of Technical Journalism.
