School hosts JMC Professionals Day
More than 30 employers visited Kansas State University March 1 to meet with students in the A.Q. Miller School of Journalism and Mass Communications and other departments on campus for JMC Professionals Day.
The A.Q. Miller School, Career and Employment Services and the K-State student chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists sponsored the event, which took place in the K-State Student Union Ballroom.
JMC Professionals Day was an afternoon and evening event, allowing flexibility for students and employers to attend. During the first part of the day from noon-3 p.m., students were able to schedule one-on-one appointments with employers from news organizations, public relations and advertising firms, and non-profit groups. The evening portion consisted of a networking event from 4-6 p.m., allowing students to interact with more employers from various areas within the industry.
During both portions, employers talked with students about internship and job positions, critiqued resumes and portfolios, discussed industry trends and gave tips on how to transition from college into the work force.
