Winners announced in the 2016 Kansas Professional Communicators Contest

Winners in the 2016 Kansas Professional Communicators contest were announced April 29 in Winfield, Kansas during the organization’s annual spring conference.

Gloria Freeland, assistant professor of journalism and mass communications, won a first-place award for her blog, "Kansas Snapshots." She submitted “Forever 31” and “For whom the bells tolled” in the contest. Freeland has been writing the blog since 2001.

First-place winners will be advanced to the National Federation of Press Women communications contest, and winners will be announced at the national conference Sept. 8 to 10, 2016, in Wichita, Kansas.

The state awards were distributed following a day of educational workshops and interaction with communications professionals. Speakers focused on building professional skills including working in a changing media landscape. Activities included marking the 75th anniversary of the founding of Kansas Professional Communicators.
