She came to K-State in 1997 after an extensive career as a reporter or editor at newspapers in Wisconsin and Minnesota. She was involved in the planning, development and launch of the online news service that evolved into the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Online and later was managing editor of jsonline.com. She has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.Bonnie Bressers is an associate professor at the A.Q. Miller School of Journalism and Mass Communications.

During her first five years at K-State, she served as the R.M. Seaton Visiting Professor of Journalism, an endowed chair designed to build bridges between the newsroom and the classroom. She teaches news reporting and writing, media ethics and health/medical journalism. In addition to several professional journalism awards, she won the William L. Stamey Teaching Award and the Cruise Palmer Distinguished Professorship for Undergraduate Teaching at K-State. She has been Print Journalism Sequence Head and, later, Head of the converged Journalism and Digital Media Sequence.

Her research interests include digital technology and its effect on journalism, health/medical communication and media ethics. In addition to academic papers, including one that won a top faculty award from the Communication Technology Division of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, she continues to freelance and has written about 20 articles for national magazines that address issues affecting the journalism profession.
